We’re looking for someone handy with a love for the outdoors to be our Grounds Attendant at the Burnaby Village Museum. This is hands-on work where you’ll assist in managing and maintaining the beautiful grounds at our historic site. Your work will include maintaining lawns, semi-skilled gardening tasks such as cutting lawns, pruning shrubs and maintaining flower beds, some litter pick up and snow removal. You’ll also provide basic information to curious Museum visitors regarding the village and its displays. You’ll perform related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation plus some related experience in gardening and grounds maintenance. As a Grouds Attendant you should have sound knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining lawn areas, flower beds, shrubs and power washing. You’ll have the ability to perform janitorial tasks and carry out various assignment with minimal oral instructions. Take care of tools and equipment essential to your work and have the ability to lift heavy objects. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required. The Burnaby Village Museum operates seven days a week and will include some evening work. Pay Rate: $33.82 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.

Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts are a minimum of 4 hours a day from 7 am to 11 am and a maximum of 7 hours a day from 7 am to 2:30 pm.
