Do you love dogs and working with people? We have got an exciting opportunity for you! This is a seasonal position, simple public contact work selling dog licenses to residents of the City. The work involves planning canvassing routes, selling licenses, providing specified bylaw information to dog owners, and recording related information. The work is performed in all weather conditions and is performed according to detailed instructions and is reviewed based on effectiveness, accuracy and completeness. An incumbent selects neighbourhoods for canvassing and plans routes; visits residences; offers dog licenses to applicable residents; sells licenses, collects fees and writes receipts. An incumbent prepares summaries of work activities and submits to the supervisor; provides basic information and answers questions regarding the Animal Control Bylaw; refers more complex inquiries to other staff. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to completion of high school and some experience working with the public, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the dog licensing fee schedules and some knowledge of the Animal Control Bylaw. Requirements include ability to deal courteously with the public and to provide information and responses to questions; prepare simple records and receipts; make mathematical calculations; operate equipment used to process payments and general clerical and organizational skills. Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Pay Rate: $25.22 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.

Hours of work: We are expecting the canvassers to work from June until the end of September. This is an auxiliary position where hours and shifts vary depending on operational requirements and are scheduled on an as needed basis. Shifts are typically scheduled Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
