This is analytical work at the entry level in support of the organization's improvements of business workflows, procedures, and tools such as the Enterprise Resource Planning system within the Engineering Department. The Business Analyst 1 performs a number of activities such as leading collaborative sessions with diverse business groups; identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and/or cost savings; provide resolution through analysis to make strategic/tactical recommendations; assists in the identification, analysis, and documentation of business and project requirements, and the resolution of problems. Provide business analysis expertise to identify, plan, and execute key business improvements to automate or improve processes; enhance customer experience by driving strategic transformational change; prepare reports, presentations and statistical analysis to document achievements and the status of ongoing activities. Able to analyze and evaluate various data and information; develop logical solutions for assigned problems and assess implications of proposed changes; perform problem definition and analysis related to business processes and systems planning. An incumbent may attend internal and external meetings; assist in the preparation of business cases; perform data analysis for problem identification and savings estimates; keep abreast of recent developments in analysis methodologies, computer techniques and procedures. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of a university degree at the Bachelor's level in computer science or a related discipline (such as Business Administration) and some related systems or process analysis experience (such as Lean/Six Sigma) or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of the principles, methodologies, tools, and standards applicable to business analysis and process planning, information technology components, processes and developments related to automation, integration, techniques and methodologies (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma). Ability to analyze and evaluate various data and information, develop logical solutions for assigned problems and assess the implications of proposed changes; perform problem definition and analysis related to business processes and systems planning. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; participate in the work of a project team and to communicate effectively orally and in writing by translating technical information into plain language. Experience with Microsoft applications (such as Visio, Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Word). Certification in Lean Six Sigma or related tools such as value stream mapping, time studies, or statistical data analysis is an asset.
