Putting ESG into Practice

Government Finance Officers Association of British Columbia

This session will take a community-of-practice approach to support local governments in developing their community’s ESG strategy that is aligned with their community’s priorities. The session will provide an overview of the ESG landscape that helps local governments set out a practical pathway to position their local government for success. From why ESG is important right now and to how to get started with the data local governments currently have access to. Participants will develop a draft purpose, outcomes, and process one-pager for their community.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This session is for local government finance officers and other local government staff responsible for sustainability reporting.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING:
This session will provide a foundation for finance and local government staff to identify where they are in terms of ESG reporting and what next steps to consider for their respective local governments. This session will take a community of practice approach to developing the next steps in the ESG reporting journey. Participants will have the opportunity to work across their tables and the room to develop a basis for developing an ESG strategy that is practical and rooted in knowledge-sharing.
