Posting Date: July 23, 2018
Year Published: 2018
Abstract:
A best management practices guide specifically developed to offer practical solutions on how to protect natural areas and enhance our region's resiliency to climate change. The guide promotes and encourages stewardship actions that can improve and effectively manage the Okanagan Lake shoreline while supporting flood preparedness. It explains why keeping the lakeshore natural is important, describes the lakeshore zones and their benefits, contains a riparian area planting guide, and lists six simple steps to protect our water. The guide also outlines who to contact to learn about regulations and support tools before developing near the shore.

This resource can be used by Okanagan residents, developers, professionals, governments and other large lake communities.
