Crime Prevention Programs Facilitator

Salary: $5,270 – 5,491 – 5,719 – 5,957 – 6,200/month

Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; including some evening & weekend shifts

This is public education work of moderate complexity related to coordinating, delivering, and promoting Community Crime Reduction and Intervention programs. An employee of this class conducts security assessments of properties, preparing detailed reports for the review of a supervisor. Provides information in the form of workshops and meetings with the public as well as a variety of community and internal partners. May oversee the delivery and coordination of a volunteer crime prevention program such as the Crime Prevention Volunteer Program. Performs other related work as required.

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by some post-secondary training in criminology, plus considerable related experience, including some experience in promoting a community-based program, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The Facilitator will have great communication skills, ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with internal and external contacts including community partners, police members and the public, while being team-oriented with a personable attitude. Ability to communicate effectively in written communications; ability to conduct security assessments, draft detailed reports on findings and make related recommendations; ability to prepare and maintain a variety of detailed reports, correspondence, promotional materials, and files related to the work. Experience presenting informative workshops is necessary. Strong administrative, file management, and computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required. A valid Class 5 unrestricted BC Driver’s License is required. Additionally, this position will require successfully completing a Police Information Check, with vulnerable sector. 

Special Notes: Subject to Note 'T' of Schedule 'B' of the CUPE 23 Inside Division Collective Agreement. Currently in Classification Review Dispute Process.
