CLP is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the full-time permanent Building Custodian (Level 1) position. The individual in this role reports to the Public Works Supervisor and assists management to achieve an efficient and economical operation through reliable performance of custodial, janitorial and security tasks in accordance with Park policies and safe work practices. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the maintenance, security and cleanliness of the Park’s buildings, facilities and public areas. Employees in this class provide a range of interior and exterior sanitation and security services; ensuring facilities are presentable to and usable by the public; providing security of amenities and cleaning and servicing buildings and public areas. The individual will collect and dispose of refuse; set up and prepare for various functions and events and carry out minor repairs to buildings and fixtures.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

1. Appropriate communication skills including the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly, converse with a wide range of people, and the aptitude to interact with contractors, staff, and the public with courtesy, diplomacy and tact;
2. valid Class 5 Drivers Licence with no restrictions;
3. the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage overlapping priorities;
4. appropriate interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships;
5. the ability to complete WHMIS training; and
6. a satisfactory police information check.

This is a Union position under the Collective Agreement between Cultus Lake Park and CUPE Local 458. The incumbent will normally work 37.5 hours per week with a 7.5-hour day scheduled between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm summer hours (May 1^st to September 15^th) then 6:00 am and 4:00 pm winter hours (September 16^th to April 30^th). Shifts may include weekends and statutory holidays and overtime may be required from time to time.

Performance of duties requires travel and working outside in all kinds of climactic conditions. The incumbent is required to follow all safety practices and procedures in the performance of duties.

The wage rate for this position starts at $22.46 per hour plus benefits.
