This is public contact and moderately complex clerical work, involving organizing and monitoring the efficient operation of office support services in a recreation facility. An incumbent organizes, monitors and participates in the clerical procedures of a recreation facility including such areas as reception and registration, facility bookings, centralized telephone registration and computerized telephone system, or all office support services in a facility; assigns, supervises, schedules, reviews and participates in the work of one or more subordinates engaged in clerical and cashiering tasks; participates in the hiring of, training and performance evaluation of subordinates; coordinates program registration process for facility; oversees and participates in the processing of program registration and/or bookings of a variety of municipal facilities using a computer terminal. Completes and issues contracts, invoices, and receipts, verifies insurance certificates and ensures setup and cleanup arrangements made; supplies information, assistance and direction to the public and user organizations by telephone and over the counter; handles enquiries and complaints; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a wide variety of community groups, the public and internal contacts; develops, revises and upon approval implements new work methods and procedures; attends departmental meetings to discuss work issues; ensures for the adherence to cash handling and related security procedures; receives, verifies and records cash receipts; prepares summary schedules and bank deposit slips; compiles budget information for review and monitors auxiliary hours and facility office supply budgets; signs time cards; reconciles petty cash; maintains inventory of office supplies. Performs related work as required.

Completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial, and word processing courses; sound related office, cash handling experience including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of departmental policies, practices, rules, and regulations (e.g. safety) related to the work performed. Sound knowledge of computer terminal, cash register and cash handling procedures, principles, and practices, needs of various community groups and individuals as they relate to recreation facilities. Ability to organize and monitor office support services in a recreation facility, assign, supervise, review, train and participate in the work of one or more clerical and/or cashier subordinates, deal effectively with the public, staff and officials in supplying information and assistance related to facility operations, exercise initiative and make decisions in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and policies, prepare and maintain a variety of records, files and reports related to the work including cash receipts and bank deposit slips. A valid Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
