Our Golf Division, within our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, is looking for auxiliary staff to work at one of the four Burnaby operated golf courses. This position works seasonally starting in early spring through to early fall. Travel and work between golf courses may be required. This is an opportunity for individuals to work and learn with a progressive turf-care team. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not restricted to:

  •  Maintaining turfgrass on greens, tees, fairways, rough, and practice areas
  •  Sand trap maintenance
  •  Golf course set up
  •  Sodding
  •  Fertilizing
  •  Aerating
  • Trimming and pruning
  • Irrigation and drainage maintenance and installation
  • Landscape construction and maintenance
  • General labour duties
  • Performing related duties as required.


The ideal candidate will be an individual who possesses a desire to learn and is highly motivated. Candidates with golf course labouring experience, knowledge and skills in the methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in golf course maintenance are preferred with any related turfgrass maintenance and/or landscaping maintenance viewed as an additional asset. Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions are required. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia, Class 5, is required.

Location: Burnaby Mountain Golf Course, Riverway Golf Course, Central Park Pith and Putt, and Kensington Park Pitch and Putt.

Hours of work: We have many shifts available throughout the week from Monday to Sunday. A typical shift length may range anywhere from 5 to 8 hours between 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
