We’re looking for an eager and enthusiastic individual to join us as a Museum Janitor! The Burnaby Village Museum welcomes visitors of all ages and we’ll rely on you to make sure that the space they enjoy is immaculate, clean and pleasant. You’ll love this job if you’re a hands-on person with great integrity who takes pride in their work. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, waxing, polishing, vacuuming and dusting floors, furniture, and windows; minor repair and servicing work on building, equipment and facilities as required; locking and unlocking doors; attending museum facilities during assigned times; preparing simple reports related to the work. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation with some related experience in janitorial or custodial work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Good knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial care and maintenance of buildings is required, as well as working knowledge of the general regulations and procedures governing facility operations. Also required are the ability to perform light manual work, understand and execute oral instructions, and deal courteously with the public. Skill in the use of a variety of tools used in the work is required. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Pay rate: $27.30 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.

Hours of Work: Hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements and are scheduled by the department on an as needed basis. We are looking for qualified individuals who are available to work 2 - 3 days a week including weekends. During our busy peak seasonal periods there may be the potential to work up to five days a week. Typical shifts are 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM during summer and 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM during fall and winter.
