Cloud Systems Administrator


Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing and administering a scalable, robust, high-performance Microsoft Azure and Office 365 cloud-based infrastructure solution that meets the CRD’s needs and mandate for applications and infrastructure using cloud technologies. This position will support the application hosting environment being built in Azure and will be responsible for the implementation, support and maintenance of the Azure environment used in the evolution project, while helping to shape the future of Azure features, solutions and delivery of best practices. As a domain specialist interacting directly with the development and technical teams and the Microsoft Azure vendor, this role will help shape the future of the infrastructure and sustainability of Azure environments. This role will work and collaborate with a diverse team, in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and coordinate workplans with the broader IT team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement, administer, monitor, and maintain CRD’s services within its Microsoft Azure tenant and Office 365 support Azure solutions that are deployed, including SharePoint Online and Teams.
  • Completing the integration and deployment of new applications into the cloud environment.
  • Participate in the technical implementation of large and complex Azure transformations and modernization projects.
  • Contribute to Azure solutions, designs, models and technical innovations.
  • Provides technical support for all on premises technology infrastructure by overseeing operations of the physical and virtual infrastructure including performing administration and maintenance.
  • Responsible for ongoing support operations for disaster recovery to ensure the effective backup and recovery of CRD’s data on premises and in Azure/O365.
  • Perform security hardening and participate in patch installation when required.
  • Conducting migration, where necessary, to bring tools and other elements into the cloud.
  • Working with virtualization technologies to achieve effective server management for the business.
  • Train existing support staff as well as development staff on the technologies used by Microsoft Azure as part of the solutions implemented into the cloud.
  • Provides second and third level support to the Service Desk, as required
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • A strong technical background in cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and O365, along with expertise in administration, security, integration, migration, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain good working relationships with professionalism, tact and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment, including meeting deadlines, ability to work on multiple projects and deliver on time with high quality.
  • Strong assessment and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, ability to research, analyze, interpret and summarize issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, support, and training to users and stakeholders.
  • Capable of communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form to clarify end-user requirements, communicate complex technical terminology and provide explanations to non-technical users.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Azure Resource Manager, Resource Groups, Virtual Networks, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage, PowerShell DSC, Azure Automation, Azure Active Directory, and Azure Site Recovery.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure B2C and dual-factor authentication
  • Knowledgeable in implementing security measures and best practices within a cloud environment.
  • Understanding of Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure DevOps preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Azure Governance and Best Practices (Role Based Access Control, Networking Architectures, Cost Management controls etc.).
  • Familiarity with migration readiness and planning tools (ex. Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery Planner)
  • Knowledgeable in configuring and optimizing virtual machines and virtual networks.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and optimizing Azure infrastructure performance.
  • Skilled in configuring and managing user identities and access within M365.
  • Capable of creating and managing workflows and automation using Power Automate.
  • Familiar with data governance and management within M365.
  • Knowledge of Agile best practices is an asset.


Qualifications

  • Degree in a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years' directly related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
