Groundwater Supply Evaluation, Monitoring Wells Construction & Well no. 3 Replacement Plan

The Village of Lumby has obtained grant funding through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund (CWWF) for the 1st phase of a single production well replacement program. As indicated in the Village’s successful application to the CWWF, the first phase includes a geologic overview to refine the basic aquifer mapping and gain an understanding of the aquifers underlying Lumby. It also includes installing two new monitoring wells along with identifying 6 existing neighboring wells for installation of sounding tubes and data loggers. Pump tests of existing wells stress the aquifer to help determine the current limits of each well as well provide important hydraulic information to understand the sustainability of current pumping rates and the expected pumping rates of the future replacement wells. After sufficient amount of time for data collection and monitoring reports will be prepared on the assessment of the aquifer and a plan for replacement of the existing water well #3.
