Richmond Celebrates 2020 Grads by Installing Commemorative Photo Stations

City of Richmond
RICHMOND - In an effort to congratulate and support Richmond’s graduating class of 2020, the City of Richmond has installed commemorative signs at picturesque locations throughout the community to serve as backdrops for fun and safe grad photo opportunities.

“In a year of unprecedented challenge and change, the City of Richmond congratulates the graduates of 2020,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “We hope that adding these commemorative backdrops in some of our City’s most beautiful parks will help to create family memories that last a lifetime.”

The commemorative Grad 2020 signage will be installed at six locations across Richmond:

  • Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site (5180 Westwater Drive) – along the boardwalk in front of the dock;
  • Imperial Landing Park (4000 Bayview Street) – east end of Imperial Landing;
  • Paulik Neighbourhood Park (7620 Heather Street) – Paulik Park garden;
  • Garden City Community Park (6620 Garden City Road) – north side of the pond;
  • Middle Arm Waterfront Park (7411 River Road) – east of the UBC Boathouse;
  • Middle Arm Greenway (6111 River Road) – in front of the volleyball courts.

The signs are part of the larger #RichmondHasHeart campaign, which provides creative opportunities to bring the community, residents and business together during COVID-19.

Grads are reminded to follow public heath guidelines when visiting City parks and taking photos, which includes maintaining physical distancing and avoiding gatherings by limiting the number of people in the group to a max of six at a time.

Grads are encouraged to share their photos on social media using the hashtag #RichmondHasHeart.
