This paper provides insight into how the Town of Creston dealt with their issues of recruiting and retaining medical professionals in a remote rural community. The paper discusses trends and options in healthcare recruitment and how to keep medical staff in a rural community. It shows how a crisis and tension between authorities can be overcome with a pro-active CAO willing to tackle issues outside the usual municipal jurisdictions.
