About the Opportunity:
The Engineering Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time regular Engineering Technologist II position. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the technologist is responsible for supporting the Township by carrying out survey, layout, and inspection services for asset management programs and construction projects through the development of information management strategy, collection methodology, and data entry. This role also provides key technical support to the Public Works and Engineering Departments.
 
Our Preferred Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent, registration or eligibility to register as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with the applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC), a class 5 BC driver’s licence, and 2 years of progressive experience in a municipal or similar environment. Our preferred candidate will have experience in an asset management environment, including the tracking of repairs and replacements of assets; the ability to collect, review, assess, and interpret data under minimal direction; conduct preliminary cost estimates; and perform related duties where qualified. This role is ideal for someone with knowledge and understanding of all aspects of surveying, mapping, and civil engineering design, as well as knowledge of computerized drafting applications and geospatial databases.
 
Salary: $37.45 – $40.40 hourly plus benefits (2024 rates)
Hours per week: 35
