We’re looking for enthusiastic team players to be part of the buzz at our City recreation and cultural centres! As a Recreation Clerk 1, you’ll be up-front-and center as a representative of the City, greeting guests and making sure that their experience is the best that it can be. Love going that extra mile? Then this job is for you! With so much interaction with the public, you should be friendly, courteous, with a knack for customer service. You should be a great multi-tasker since you’ll need to juggle public contact, clerical and typing work (minimum 30 wpm net) as well as answer the telephone. You should also be a team player who can maintain great relationships with the public and with your co-workers. A happy team makes for a great working environment! As a Recreation Clerk 1, some of your responsibilities will include maintaining booking and registration schedules as well as receiving cash and issuing receipts. Performs other related work as required.

To qualify, you’ll need to have completed Grade 12 including or supplemented by vocational and typing courses plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You must have front line customer service experience, as well as cash handling and cash register (POS) systems. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook is needed. It’s important that you’re a keen and eager learner since members of the public will rely on your knowledge of department facilities, programs, booking and registration procedures. As you’ll be asked to compose emails, you should have some understanding of business English, as well as proper grammar and spelling.

Hourly Wage: $27.30 + 12% in lieu of benefits

Schedule: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts can vary depending on operational requirements, and are scheduled on an as needed basis. The incumbent must have the availability to work scheduled shifts in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, & weekends; available hours are Monday through Sunday from 5:30 AM – 11:00 PM
