Receptionist 2


The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Receptionist 2” in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department.  This is a temporary union position and is subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the current Collective Agreement between the City and CUPE Local 556.
 
The Receptionist 2 performs reception duties for the general public and facility users regarding community and recreation services and programs. They provide clerical support to program staff; prepare bank deposits; perform various bookkeeping tasks; perform specific tasks related to facilities; and prepare and maintain park and facility bookings. 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary Business Technology or Administration Certificate, or related discipline from a recognized educational institution or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current Criminal Record Clearance
  • Current Standard First Aid
  • Sound (3 years) receptionist, cash-handling, reconciliations and clerical experience
  • Thorough knowledge in the operation of various office equipment and office software programs including advanced Microsoft Excel abilities and proficiency in ActiveNet recreation software
  • Some knowledge and experience in bookkeeping principles and practices
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational, communication, time management, computer and keyboarding skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
  • Ability to deal with the public directly in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently or occasionally work along without supervision
  • Physical ability to occasionally lift recreation equipment

 
The current hourly wage rate is $32.49 based on a 35-hour work week. This is a temporary full-time position available soon for approximately 6 months or upon the return of the incumbent. Hours of work will include days and evenings at both the Lewis & Filberg Centre offices.
