Short Description:
The Lower Coquitlam River Watershed Plan (the Plan) is the result of a partnership and adaptive planning approach for sustainable development and watershed health. The Plan highlights the current condition of the Coquitlam River watershed and provides an Action Plan for improved watershed health.  Because the Coquitlam River had been on the BC’s Endangered Rivers list for nearly two decades, stakeholders, partners and concerned citizens wanted to improve the health of the watershed to get the river off this infamous list. The cities of Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, together with Kwikwetlem First Nation, collaborated with the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable, a body comprising over 60 partners, to develop a plan for a healthy watershed. The results of the Roundtable have led to the development of an “Action Plan” that addresses both ecological and human well-being concerns in the watershed, in a systematic and coordinated way.
