Short Description:
Surrey is the second geographically largest City in B.C., and one of the fastest growing populations in Canada. To support Surrey’s rapid population growth the City has placed considerable emphasis on transit and non-motorized modes of transportation. However 80% of Surrey’s over 500,000 residents rely on private automobiles for their transportation needs placing a considerable demand on Surrey’s existing road network.  To proactively manage traffic congestion throughout Surrey, the City responded by developing an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) via state of the art Traffic Management Centre (TMC) to improve infrastructure capacity and operations of its 185 traffic signals.
