    The BC Supreme Court dismissed a judicial review application brought by the City to overturn a decision of a reconsideration panel of the Labour Relations Board. The City’s application arose out of the termination of a Fire Services Captain for egregious misconduct while on duty in the fire hall.

  4. Kwakiutl First Nation and District of Port Hardy Sign Historic Relationship Agreement
    On the 170th anniversary of the signing of the Douglas Treaty (1851) at the Municipal Hall on the traditional territory of the Kwakiutl people, Hereditary Chief David Knox, Chief Councillor Ross Hunt Jr. and Mayor Dennis Dugas signed the Kwakiutl First Nation and District of Port Hardy Relationship Agreement.

    An updated, mandatory training program for rural abattoir operators was developed following detailed consultation with B.C. ranchers, abattoir operators, local governments and other stakeholders. Improving and increasing rural slaughter capacity is part of a larger effort to improve rural food supply and food security in British Columbia.
