New Online Engagement Platform Goes Live in Sunshine Coast Regional District

Sunshine Coast Regional District
SECHELT - A new way for people in the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) to have their say. Let’s Talk SCRD was launched April 21st for SCRD residents to provide their input and ideas on projects and issues in the Region.

The new website can be found at www.scrd.ca/letstalk

The website features a number of ways to engage with the SCRD including discussion forums, polls, idea boards, and surveys – all in one space.

“The goal of Let’s Talk SCRD is for residents to share their voice, ideas, opinions and insight into the work that we are carrying out each and every day in communities along the Sunshine Coast,” says Aidan Buckley, SCRD Manager, Communications and Engagement. “This website does not replace face-to-face engagement, instead it is intended to complement engagement activities into the future.”

In the coming weeks and months, Let’s Talk SCRD will offer residents the opportunity to play a significant role in public engagement for the SCRD’s budget, regional water projects and other initiatives. Residents can log on to help shape the future of the Sunshine Coast and share their ideas on how the SCRD can make life better in the Region.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that there needs to be meaningful alternatives to face-to-face consultation,” says Buckley. “Now more than ever, we need to provide new ways for the community to share their feedback - wherever and whenever it is most convenient for them.”

"The SCRD Board is very excited to get this engagement website up and running,” says Lori Pratt, SCRD Board Chair. “To proactively engage with our residents, partners and staff in order to share information and obtain input on issues that affect them is a top priority in our strategic plan.”

Community members are encouraged to register on the site prior to sharing their input by visiting www.scrd.ca/letstalk and following a five-step process to Sign Up. Registered users can tailor preferences to receive notifications about topics and projects that matter most to them.
