Village of Sayward Launches OCP Review with Household Survey

Village of Sayward
SAYWARD - The Village of Sayward is seeking public participation in a survey as the first step in the update of the Official Community Plan (OCP). The planning team from Urban Systems will be working with the Village on this important community project. Citizens of the Village of Sayward should watch for the household survey to arrive in their mailboxes. Alternatively, the survey can be completed online using the following link

“We hope everyone will take the time to fill this out and participate in this first step of the review and update of the Official Community Plan. You can use the online link where your responses go back to the Urban Systems Planners directly and anonymously, or with a pen and paper, then drop off at the Village office or mail back.” said Chief Administrative Officer Ann MacDonald.

The OCP is an important bylaw that describes the long-term vision of community development in the Village of Sayward.

“Think of the OCP as a set of policies on how we can all live together, and a chance to talk through the things that matter. The OCP is also the best way for Mayor and Council to hear from citizens on how they feel about a whole wide range of interests such as sustainability, nutrition, internet service, transportation needs, housing preferences and concerns about the future and ideas about preserving the history of Sayward and its many wonderful people and stories. This also includes gathering citizen’s thoughts on how the Village carries out its work of delivering water, collecting sewage, looking after parks and other important assets, and generating economic development and more services for people.”

The survey will be open until April 28th, and hard copies received back from the public will be provided to the planning team.

“I hope people will take the time to answer the survey in a thoughtful and honest way by April 28th. You can also contact the Urban Systems planning team directly with any questions at and send the survey directly to them by using the online link above. While this is for Village residents primarily, Valley residents are welcome to participate and are requested to indicate they live outside Village boundaries”.
