District of Kitimat and Unifor 2300 Ratify Collective Agreement

KITIMAT - The District of Kitimat and municipal employees represented by Unifor 2300 have ratified a new Collective Agreement. The four-year deal is from January 1, 2021 and expires December 31, 2024.

“We are pleased a deal has been reached and would like to commend both negotiation teams on their dedication to arriving at an agreement that is amenable for both parties” said Mayor Phil Germuth. “This agreement ensures the District of Kitimat can continue to serve our community through the hard work and dedication of all our staff.”

“Our members take pride in the services we deliver to the community, as a result from this deal Unifor 2300 is looking forward to another 4 years of stability with the highest standards of Municipal operations, as set out in our Collective Agreement Objective. Over the next 4 years we will endeavor to improve working conditions for our members and service delivery for the public through our skilled and dedicated work force. The Bargaining Committee would like to thank the District for the respectful round of bargaining, and our Members for their support while we worked hard to get a deal that met our objectives.” – Jonathan Aiken, Unifor 2300 President
