  3. B.C. Builds Cleaner Communities with Active Transportation
    For this intake period, $24 million from the Province will support 80 active transportation infrastructure projects in communities around British Columbia. These grants will help local governments plan and build improved connections to work, school and recreational centres, and create infrastructure in communities to support active modes of transportation.

  5. Regional Parks in British Columbia’s Central Okanagan Join Canada’s National Conservation Network
    The Regional District of Central Okanagan has officially recognized 25 regional parks as part of Canada’s national conservation network, further solidifying the Regional District of Central Okanagan's commitment to nature conservation. The combined area represents 2,114 hectares, which is now included in the Canadian Protected and Conserved Areas Database. Equivalent to 21.1 square kilometres, the total area is also larger than the city of Victoria, the provincial capital of British Columbia.

  6. Nearly 870 New Homes Coming to Vancouver Island
    Eight new projects on Vancouver Island have been selected through the third intake of the Building BC: Community Housing Fund (CHF). The proposed projects will provide 867 affordable rental homes for individuals, families, seniors, people living with disabilities and Indigenous people on Vancouver Island.

  7. City of Delta Receives Grant to Study Enhancement of Agricultural Water Security
    With the Fraser River freshet occurring earlier in the year, faster snowpack melt, and rising sea levels pushing more saline water towards Delta’s only irrigation intake at Tasker Pump Station, this funding will allow Delta to study an ideal location for a second irrigation intake from the Fraser River.

  9. City Creates Mobile App to Help Outreach Workers Better Serve People Experiencing Homelessness
    CHIA allows frontline workers to track service delivery in encampments, access real-time bed inventory updates at shelters, and develop historical data to advocate for more resources. This new mobile, web and desktop application supports the City’s drive towards a robust Coordinated Access system of care for Abbotsford, and allows better coordination between service agencies and organizations, ultimately leading to improved support and access to housing.
