Harassment in the Workplace - Employer Responsibilities

This breakfast session will provide employers valuable information regarding a recent hotspot in the workplace – Bullying and Harassment.  The presenter will cover the following issues:
  • What is bullying and harassment and what are the risks?
    • WorkSafe BC definitions; inter employee conflict; managerial exclusion; types of orders
    • Human Rights Code definitions; limits of acceptable conduct; employer liability for employee bad behavior
  • What should and Employer do when faced with a potential bullying and harassment situation?

  • Complaints made for improper reasons

  • Workplace training
  • Proactive steps to help protect the workplace
Participants will be provided with real life examples involving the above topics together with practical business based solutions.  There will be time left for questions.
Graeme McFarlane is a founding partner at Roper Greyell where he provides strategic and practical advice to employers on labour, employment and human rights issues in the workplace.
