About: This conference will demonstrate how partnerships are Breaking Barriers and Creating Connections between First Nations, First Nation organizations, government, and others to enhance and build capacity in our Nations and communities. What to expect? Plenary sessions with keynotes and panels from First Nation leadership, full day pre-conference workshops on project management and records and information management and case study sessions with First Nation groups on policy, HR and governance. Who should attend? First Nations Band Administrators, their management and office staff, Chief and Council, First Nations Youth, Tribal Councils, First Nations Organizations and anyone with an interest in First Nation administration and governance.

In addition to all of this, you can choose to attend a fundraising reception at the beautiful Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art in Vancouver in support of the BC First Nation Public Service scholarship fund. With your contribution, you’ll enjoy Indigenous art, entertainment, food, short films and the opportunity to network with First Nation and government leaders and more!

Fundraising Reception, evening of November 6, 2019 (with purchase of main conference registration $15 or single reception ticket $48)

Funding support is available through the FNPSS to support the registration fee and accommodation costs.
Eligibility:
  • One delegate per BC First Nation (It is recommended that this delegate be a Band Administrator or equivalent, a manager or representative from Chief and Council)
Covered Costs:
  • Waived registration fee, which includes the Main Conference and Pre-Conference Workshop, full breakfast and lunch on each day, ($700 value)
  • Accommodation during the conference at the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver, 300-999 Canada Place, Vancouver, BC V6C 3B5.
All other travel expenses and additional delegates from a First Nation already receiving funding support from FNPSS will be at their own expense.
To access funding support, please email your applications to info@fnps.ca NO later than October 18, 2019. Once received, FNPSS will contact you to confirm your registration and accommodation. Scroll down to download the application form in the “Documents” section of this webpage.

This funding support is made available through Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).

Full day of workshops on Project Management delivered by our partner the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) covering the foundations you need to effectively plan and deliver on projects, including roles, communication and engagement, budgeting, and more.
