SICAMOUS UPSTARTS WANT TO SOLVE EVERY PROBLEM IN THE WORLD (STARTING WITH YOURS)

Lifelong friends Marvin Polis, Pat Gau, Claudette Larocque, Karen Eastland and Pascal Albisser have seen a lot of business problems in their long careers working for huge corporations and small businesses. So they decided to get together and brainstorm how they can help businesses, local governments and non-profits solve those conundrums through the power of crowdsourcing. 

They came up with some “pretty good” ideas brainstorming in their favourite coffee shops in Sicamous, BC and St. Albert, Alberta. Then they found the kicker: "Let's solve problems in a way that also promotes local economic development."

Their blinding flash of the obvious was recently launched as Shout My Problem. Local governments in BC have already started using Shout My Problem to crowdsource solutions for their problems. The service is being featured on the CivicInfo BC and Alberta Smart City Alliance web sites.

Emotive is excited to announce the Community Outreach Incentive Program! The new program offers support to organizations and local governments in British Columbia to deliver Emotive electric vehicle (EV) outreach. The program is designed to empower individuals, communities, and organizations to deliver activities and events that raise awareness about EVs throughout BC.
 
The incentive program offers the provision of Emotive event materials and/or funding up to $15,000!  
 
Bring an Emotive EV Event or Activity to your community!
 
Anyone can bring Emotive to their community. Hosting an Emotive EV activity is a fun way to engage communities in raising the awareness and the profile of EVs. A successful Emotive activity could include: an Emotive info booth or table, EV test drive, or an EV 101 presentation. Get creative and let us know how you can promote EVs in your community.

CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST:  MUNICIPAL NATURAL ASSETS INITIATIVE WATERSHED ROLL-OUT IN BC 
 
In municipalities across Canada, infrastructure is aging, capital and operating costs are rising, and service delivery is strained by growing populations and shifting conditions.  Solutions may be all around us: there is growing evidence that natural assets provide, or could be restored to provide, services just like engineered assets, and often at lower costs.  
 
However, most local governments lack policies and methods to measure the services provided by natural assets or the risks to services if the natural assets become degraded. 
 
The Municipal Natural Assets Initiative (MNAI) offers a methodology and support for local governments to integrate natural assets into core asset management and financialprocesses using the same systems as for engineered assets.
 
MNAI is now offering a watershed-level program in BC focussed on the needs and capacities of smaller / rural local governments, in a single geographic region.
