Diversion and Disposal Facility Inspector

We have an opening for the regular, part-time position of Diversion and Disposal Facility (DDF) Inspector at our Armstrong Facility. The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 Diploma and a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license. You are friendly and outgoing, tactful with effective communication skills and provide great overall customer service. You are physically fit, able to stand for extended periods and able to work in adverse weather and in conditions typical of a landfill setting (dust, noise, odours, etc.). Level 1 First Aid certification and previous work experience in a landfill setting or in a customer service capacity will be considered assets.
The Inspector is responsible for inspecting and providing direction and education to customers on recycling and disposal requirements and the Solid Waste Management Bylaw. The Inspector also assists with customer enquiries and maintains the overall cleanliness and safety of the facility.
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the primary work location will be at the Armstrong/Spallumcheen DDF, but may also work at the Vernon site on occasion. DDFs are open seven days per week, three of the four seasons; weekend shifts will be required.

This is a regular, part- time position (approximately 60 hours bi-weekly from March – November and 50 hours bi-weekly from December – February.) The hourly wage rate starts at $25.97 for the first 910 hours, increasing to $28.50 upon successful completion of the training period, plus 16% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and all other benefits.
