Maintenance Worker - Utilities
Full Time Position
We are seeking a versatile and skilled individual to perform a diverse range of work related to the installation, maintenance and servicing of municipal infrastructure, primarily concerned with utilities.
Reporting to the Operations Foreman this position may perform skilled pipelaying and pipefitting tasks, operate various types of equipment and provide direction to subordinates. You will be expected to clean, operate test and perform repairs or adjustments on multiple items, such as pumps, valves, hydrants, and pressure reducing valves. The incumbent will be expected to safely and efficiently operate various trucks and equipment as you respond to service requests and emergency trouble calls related to water or sanitary and storm services. Excellent communication skills are required while communicating with members of the public and other contacts. We are looking for a positive individual able to make meaningful contributions to our existing team. Applicants must possess the physical stamina to work outdoors in all weather, have excellent interpersonal skills, and embrace our vision of maintaining and enhancing Pitt Meadows’ natural beauty.
The successful candidate is required to have:
- High school diploma and completion of courses related to the work plus considerable experience as a Truck Driver in general maintenance and construction work, as well as experience related to installing, maintaining and servicing municipal infrastructure; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Unrestricted Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Endorsement for the Province of British Columbia.
- EOCP Waste Water Collection – Level 1.
- EOCP Water Distribution – Level 1.
The hours of work for this position will be mainly scheduled between Monday and Friday, but applicants must be willing to work overtime and/or participate in the standby rotation.
This is a full time CUPE position with a salary of $30.89 per hour, plus benefits.
