 Senior Sustainability Planner

Temporary Full Time Position (Approximately 13 months)


The Sustainability Section in the Planning Department is seeking a Senior Sustainability Planner who will assist in the formulation, implementation and on-going support of a broad range of corporate and community wide programs that promote and work towards long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will provide analysis, technical expertise, advice and guidance to Council and senior staff, Municipal departments, community groups and the public on the subject of sustainability programs, energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reduction (GHG) strategies, external funding and their implementation.

Qualified candidates must have a Master’s Degree in environmental studies, biology, ecology, land use planning, or resource management; six years relevant experience in planning and implementing environmental, sustainability and/or corporate strategic initiatives; working knowledge of green building certifications; previous experience in project management, supervision of contractors/consultants, preparing and managing project budgets, policy development and securing grant funding; and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $46.85 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
