Come join one of BC’s Top 100 Employers! The City of Coquitlam is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Accounting Clerk I to join our team of professionals in the Finance & Technology Department, Financial Services Division.
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: posting subsidiary ledgers; balancing cash, preparing journal entries and periodic summaries; processing accounts payable items, codes, invoices, determining discounts, foreign exchange, tax status and account distributions, answering payable enquiries; checking accuracy and distribution‑of stores requisitions; performing ledger analysis duties as directed and preparing necessary journal entries. The incumbent will also maintain a variety of files; indexes, stores, retrieves files as directed; maintaining office supplies and processes manual cheques, stop‑payments, foreign exchange drafts, money orders, supplier statements and discrepancies.
The ideal candidate will be able to work well under pressure, can exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative, manage multiple competing demands at once, build and maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively in a team setting. These attributes will be matched with a Grade 12 education supplemented by bookkeeping and commercial courses, and sound related experience in accounts payable or accounts receivable work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a public sector setting.
Experience with Oracle financials EBS and an accounts payable electronic workflow system would be an asset.
In addition to a CUPE hourly rate of $24.36 - $28.55, the city offers a comprehensive benefits package and an earned day off program. Applicants under consideration may be required to consent to a Police Information Check.
