Director of Finance


Are you a visionary accounting professional who is passionate about managing the finances of a municipality in order to provide valued services to the community?

The District of Mission is looking for a progressive, innovative, high-quality results-oriented individual with keen critical thinking ability and analytical and problem solving skills to join our Finance Department.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will provide leadership and oversight to the programs and operations of the Finance Department, including the Accounting Services, Treasury, Budgeting, Property Taxation, Purchasing and Payroll divisions. You will provide advice and guidance to Council and senior management to assist them in meeting their strategic objectives through appropriate financial management. You will also be responsible for fulfilling the statutory duties of the Financial Officer under the Community Charter and the Local Government Act.

You will possess an open, team-oriented leadership style which promotes continuous improvements in organizational efficiency. You understand local government objectives and issues, you are proactive and forward thinking and you have excellent interpersonal skills.

A distinguished financial management track record and the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Council, are essential for this position as is having a high degree of integrity due to exposure to highly confidential and/or politically sensitive information.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a post-secondary degree from an accredited university with a major in Accounting or a related field. Registration as a Chartered Professional Accountant in British Columbia is required. You will also have a minimum of five years of senior management experience with substantial leadership experience.

This position is excluded from the bargaining units and offers a wage rate commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
