Senior Engineering Technician

The Senior Engineering Technician works collaboratively with District staff, manages professional service providers and contractors and interacts with our customers to provide great service. The role involves leading people, initiatives and projects including mentoring and training technical staff in their growth and development. Technical aspects of the position involve Asset Management, civil CAD design, GIS, field work investigations and surveys, Project Management and Contract Administration, budgeting and construction inspections. The Senior Engineering Technician assists in the development and implementation of policy and procedures to ensure safe and efficient work practices. The position works in a fast-paced environment and requires a high degree of technical problem solving. The normal work week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday, plus the option of an Earned Time Off program.

The preferred candidates will have:
  • An engineering technology diploma or diploma in a related discipline and eligibility for a certificate of registration as an applied science technologist;
  • A certified qualified contract administrator;
  • Ten years’ related experience in engineering planning and design with municipal systems and services with supervision being a minimum of one year of the experience;
  • GIS and AutoCad operational experience with expertise in at least one;
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence.

The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is between $35.07/hr and $41.77/hr (2019 rates).
