The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for the position of Financial Services Manager . This is a full time exempt position in the Finance Department.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Services Manager is responsible for the supervision of four union employees and assisting under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer in the process developing budgets, financial reports etc.  Liaise with all departments pertaining to financial information as required.  The Financial Services Manager performs duties as required under the Local Government Act. The position supports and coaches the four supervised unionized finance staff towards maximizing personal and department potential.

The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12 with at least fifteen years relevant work experience in a municipal financial/accounting environment, and sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices in accordance to Public Sector Accounting Standards. They will also be proficient in computer use (i.e.) spread sheeting, data entry, operation & functions of printers, keyboards and should have a working knowledge of accounting software packages.   

Candidates must have proven excellent computer skills with solid working knowledge of computer systems and the ability to learn new programs and processes as required and must also demonstrate an ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members while following established procedures. Preference will be given to current holders of CPA designation. Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Records Check is a requirement of this position.
