Our Facilities department is looking for a temporary full-time Planner 2 to join their team for a minimum one (1) year term, with strong possibility of extension. In this position, you will apply professional planning knowledge and expertise, and consult with a wide range of stakeholders, to develop a Strategic Facility Plan that identifies achievable short, mid and long term objectives to align the District-owned building portfolio and building asset management plan with the District’s community plans, policies and other strategic objectives.

In this role, you will assemble, research, analyze and interpret a wide variety of data required for the early, integrated planning of major District building projects, and ensure they align with established plans and directives for appropriate and sustainable development, and the provision of public services in the context of appropriate land use and community needs. In your professional capacity, you will be required to chair internal stakeholder meetings and attend District Council meetings, committee of council meetings and other civic and outside meetings. You will supervise and participate in the work of consultants, technical staff and project stakeholders as necessary to develop the Strategic Facility Plan, and prepare and present reports on the findings and recommendations.

You have an undergraduate degree in urban planning, architecture or a related discipline supplemented by a Master’s Degree in Planning, with considerable professional experience in urban or regional development planning. You excel in a team environment and have excellent leadership, time management and problem solving skills. You have a high degree of familiarity with the processing of complex development applications, preferably at the municipal level, and demonstrate skills necessary to do so in a timely and efficient manner. Membership or eligibility for membership in either the Planning Institute of British Columbia or the Canadian Institute of Planners is required, as well as a valid B.C. Driver’s Licence.

The hourly pay range for this unionized position is $46.75 - $55.35 (2019 rates) based on a 35-hour flexible work week.
