The District of West Vancouver (the District) is one of three municipalities that make up the North Shore, and is a member of Metro Vancouver, the governing body of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Reporting to the Manager of Roads & Transportation, the Transportation Engineer oversees and facilitates the planning, design, construction, and project management of municipal transportation infrastructure projects and services. The Transportation Engineer is responsible for the provision of various functions related to Transportation Management (roads, traffic, active transportation) through direct involvement and the supervision of a team of technologists.
The successful candidate will demonstrate progressively responsible experience with municipal transportation planning, capital projects and asset management practices. The candidate will have excellent management and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop the effective working relationships required to optimize resources and support District priorities. The candidate will be a licensed Civil Engineer and possess several years’ experience related to municipal engineering within the provision of transportation functions.
The candidate will be a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer and have a valid driver’s license for the Province of British Columbia. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.
