The Facility Construction Management (FCM) department of the Resort Experience division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Capital Projects Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager of FCM, this position offers 76.5 hours bi-weekly starting as soon as possible.
Working closely with the Manager of Facility Construction Management (FCM), the Capital Projects Supervisor’s core responsibility is the cost effective delivery of capital rehabilitation, replacement and upgrade projects related to facility asset management and in alignment to the needs of the organization. The Capital Projects Supervisor manages the quality and delivery of building and park development to assist in the community’s goal of maintaining a World-Class Resort Status.
Qualified candidates will possess a grade 12 diploma and Post-Secondary education in a related discipline such as Engineering Technology or Building Systems Operations/Technology and a Project Management certificate, supplemented by 5+ years of progressive experience in facility maintenance and building construction and project management. Qualified candidates demonstrate that they are proficient at developing project scope, schedules and budgets and managing consultants and contractors in addition to value add and quality assurance during construction with the abilities to negotiate, meet deadlines and streamline projects in a cost effective way. Qualified candidates possess strong knowledge of BC Building Code, applicable safety codes and Municipal specifications; a complete understanding and fluency in architectural, construction and technical drawings, specifications and operation manuals; knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the maintenance, construction and repair of building assets and components; skill in procurement and contract development and administration related to local government and provincial regulation; and an understanding of asset management and preventative maintenance processes in relation to building and electrical assets.
The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and vision in the delivery of services and effective supervisory skills to lead work groups; excellent communication, organizational and time management skills; the ability to interact efficiently, courteously and professionally with the public, consultants, contractors and stakeholders; the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others and will contribute to a positive team environment.
