Reporting to the Manager of Business Process Change, the Change Management Specialist performs work in assessing the level of change and change management requirements; developing and implementing change plans and related communications materials in support of major business and technology projects. The incumbent applies a structured change management approach throughout all phases of projects; works closely with project sponsors, key leaders, department managers and project managers; and may provide direction to others engaged in related project work. The work is performed under minimal supervision and the incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within the framework of guidelines, established policies and procedures, discussing complex or policy matters with a superior.
The Change Management Specialist engages with project sponsors, key leaders and department managers; discusses and obtains approval of plans; develops a Change Sponsorship and Leadership Model that supports active and visible sponsorship throughout the project; recommends membership of the internal change team and agrees on accountabilities; assesses support requirements for sponsors, managers and supervisors and prepares a plan to support same; coaches all levels of managers and supervisors to champion change, lead presentations, training and/or communications. The incumbent will lead the implementation of business readiness plans, develop, design, and deliver activities; identifies and analyses people related issues/risks on an ongoing basis, and proposes mitigation tactics; provides status reports to stakeholder groups; maintains documentation. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include a degree in a relevant field, PROSCI Change Management Certification, formal training in Change Management, 5 or more years of experience leading complex IT change initiatives in multi stakeholder environments using a structured Change Management approach, plus considerable related experience, including some experience in project related change management roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal incumbent will have sound knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and methods utilized in the definition, development and implementation of Change Management communication Plans. The ability to apply project management principles and to assist in the leadership of project teams as well as the ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal is desired.
