The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx.. February 18, 2019 to approx. February 14, 2020) Paralegal, to join our team of professionals in the Corporate Administration Division, Property Services Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Property Services, this unionized position will be responsible for drafting contract language according to precedent, or from rough draft, preparing and processing a variety of legal documents required in the conveyancing of land for municipal and other purposes. The successful candidate will review contracts, leases and other legal documents for completeness and accuracy, and liaise with and provide a variety of information and assistance to internal and external contacts. In this position you will prepare routine and non-routine correspondence, open and close files and maintain department filing system, provide guidance to other department staff engaged in the processing of less complex legal documents and perform related work as required.
Your education will include completion of a paralegal diploma program plus considerable related experience in conveyancing procedures, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of procedures, forms, documents and legal terminology governing the conveyance of property and other rights and interest in lands, including Land Titles registrations.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $32.25 - $37.97 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.
