Program Assistant - Teen Centres
Up to 5 Auxiliary Relief Positions
Under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer, the Program Assistants will provide supervision to participants in drop-in programs at the Upside Teen Centre at Saanich Commonwealth Place, the Flipside Teen Centre at G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre, and/or the Backdoor Teen Centre at the Gordon Head Recreation Centre. Program Assistants will ensure the safety and well-being of participants and communicate and work cooperatively with participants, parents, coworkers and supervisors.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10, three months experience working with children in a recreational, daycamp or instructional setting, including children with behaviour difficulties, satisfactory police information check, and Emergency First-Aid and CPR Level C. The successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends and nights, up to 15 hours per week (hours/shifts are subject to change).
These are C.U.P.E. Local 2011 positions with a wage of $17.10 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
