Located adjacent to downtown Victoria, Esquimalt is a residential community (population 17,000) with extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.
We are seeking an energetic and innovative Communications Specialist to join our team.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the successful candidate will have a strong strategic and community relations focus and will lead the development and implementation of effective corporate communications, media, and public relations activities. You will oversee the creation and implementation of dynamic Township communications strategies and activities; oversee graphic standards and other written materials; promote success stories; and provide communications support in emergency situations. You will also liaise between departments, agencies, and partners, and ensure all communications are executed and evaluated.
Your qualifications include a degree in communications or public relations and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience, preferably in a municipal environment. A thorough understanding of the technologies and tools specific to the development of communications materials, websites, and social media platforms is required. You have considerable knowledge of strategic communications, a keen sense of design, and excellent verbal and written communication skills to round out your technical skill set.

We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position.
Annual Salary: $76,497 - $86,929 (2019 rates)
