Arts and Culture Programmer/ Filming Coordinator


The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking a full-time Arts and Culture Programmer / Filming Coordinator to provide arts and cultural work assisting with the planning, developing, coordinating, scheduling, implementing, facilitating and evaluating of a wide variety of arts and culture based programs, initiatives, workshops and events for various ages and special interest groups for the City of Pitt Meadows.  Reporting to the Senior Arts and Cultural Services Coordinator, the work involves assisting with recruiting, hiring, overseeing and supervising contract instructors and volunteers, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, and communicating effectively (including public speaking) with a variety of internal and external contacts, including schools, community groups and organizations.  The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of and monitoring of program budgets and related facility and service policy and procedures as an active member of the arts and cultural services team and will assist the department with special events and programs.

The Filming responsibilities will include finding solutions and working effectively with filming production companies, numerous City Departments, Pitt Meadows residents, merchants, community organizations, as well as the BC Film Commission.  This work will include the ability to be highly organized and balance time-sensitive multi-tasking duties while negotiating and issuing permits and mitigating film impacts with the City of Pitt Meadows.

The work requires the exercise of considerable independent judgement and action within the limits of applicable policies and procedures.  The successful candidate will have completed a post-secondary program in arts and culture, or related field at a recognized institution, plus sound knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community arts and cultural services and programming; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  A B.C Driver’s license and St. John’s First Aid certificate (or equivalent) is required.  Knowledge and experience with filming and municipal environments is considered an asset.  Flexibility in the work schedule is required and will include some evening and weekend commitments.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week – based on five (8) hour days, primarily Monday – Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work between the hours of 6:00am and 10:00pm

Salary Rate: Pay Grade 18 - $27.88/hr
