We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Administrative Coordinator to join the Civilian Police Services within the Coquitlam RCMP detachment. This position is an integral member of the supervisory team responsible for the delivery of efficient and effective administrative support on a wide range of activities and functions for the Department. Working in a fast-paced, demanding but fun environment, the successful incumbent will be expected to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines; carry out tasks and identify priorities with little supervision or direction; exercise sound decision making; and demonstrate tact, diplomacy and political acumen in a local government setting.

Reporting to the Civilian Police Services & Finance Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the supervision, hiring and work performance evaluation of a group of employees engaged in clerical, storekeeping, training programs and fleet maintenance. The incumbent assists with the preparation of departmental budgets, monitors and analyzes expenditures to avoid cost overruns and identifies potential costs savings. The incumbent provides senior staff advice and assistance relating to expenses and administrative policies and procedures. The incumbent will act as the department purchasing specialist while initiating the requisition process for a variety of materials, supplies, equipment and services for the RCMP detachment. The incumbent will conduct, coordinate and assist with special studies on broad administrative and purchasing issues within the department.

The ideal candidate is an experienced supervisor with 3-5 years of progressive experience working in a municipal government setting in a similar capacity, or a suitable combination of education and experience. The candidate should have Microsoft Office skills and demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and/or financial systems or courses completed towards a post-secondary certification in a related field.

A CUPE hourly rate of $32.94-$38.78 (2018 rates), a comprehensive benefits package, and an earned day off program is being offered.
