The City of Coquitlam’s RCMP Detachment is currently recruiting for auxiliary Custodial (Cell) Guards. In this position you will work 12 hour rotating shifts (7am‐7pm and 7pm‐7am) and be responsible for the safekeeping of prisoners as well as maintaining the security of the jail cell area.
The successful candidate will maintain surveillance over prisoners’ physical condition, visually and through the use of closed circuit TV, to ensure their security and welfare. You will assist with booking and searching prisoners. Other responsibilities include preparing and serving meals to prisoners and completing light janitorial and maintenance duties within the jail cell area.
The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by related training and experience, including a first aid certificate. Other requirements include strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external contacts, the ability to maintain detailed records, as well as being comfortable using various RCMP computer applications.
You must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance.
A CUPE hourly rate of $25.84 to $27.99 (2018 Rates), with 12% in lieu of benefits. Applicants under consideration must be able to obtain and maintain and Enhance RCMP Security Clearance.
