NVDPL is currently recruiting an exempt Manager of Welcoming Initiatives who is eager to work in a high-paced public library environment and to provide leadership over a varied and highly impactful portfolio that ensures the highest quality of patron experiences at our current and upcoming service points. The Manager of Welcoming Initiatives will facilitate and inspire the transformation of our service culture, pursue the development of community-conscious space designs, and market a world of library services that continuously evolve and progress.
 
The Manager of Welcoming Initiatives provides strategic oversight for effective library operations; mentors, coaches, and develops the library’s circulation team and Branch Coordinators; encourages space and equipment improvements; as well as way-finding, retailing, and promotions at our libraries. We seek a creative and enthusiastic individual who possesses a vision for connecting community, sharing knowledge, and inspiring stories through library initiatives.
 
Other exciting aspects for the role include: designing patron-focused and community-driven library service plans; evaluating and assessing library service metrics and analytics; participating in policy development; making Board presentations and other professional presentations on library services and values; providing staff orientation and maintaining our strategic training supports; leveraging the ambiance and accessibility of our spaces for social inclusion; liaising with devoted stakeholders within our donor community (e.g. the Friends of the Library group); working closely with and in aid of the work of the Business Manager’s responsibility to ensure diligent work in Library buildings by contractors; and represent the library on community boards and at functions, where required.
 
We hope to add an experienced leader with the know-how to manage service change, engage community ideas and deliver on a commitment to building up the Library’s operations and people. Working with the Library Director and a strong leadership team, you will actively contribute to an environment of collaboration, respect, and teamwork that facilitates staff to accomplish the goals of the organization, and that sustains our recruitment of dedicated library professionals who uphold the principles of library freedom and access.
 
Your qualifications include graduation from University with a Master’s degree in Library Science from and accredited Library school, or equivalent, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a managerial, supervisory or leadership position.
