The City is currently looking for a Utilities Superintendent who will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the City’s Utility Department including the Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Collection, Water Distribution and associated infrastructure. This senior supervisory position reports to the City’s Director of Public Works and is a key member of the Management Team. The Utilities Superintendent oversees and provides advice on all utility related matters, ensuring that services are delivered in an effective manner and consistent with the City’s organizational objectives. The Utilities Superintendent makes recommendations for capital work and strategic planning for the department and works with other senior staff in the coordination of such activities. Desirable qualifications include a post-secondary education and/or Journeyman trades qualification, as well as professional designation as a Certified Technician. Level 2 certification with the BC Environment Certification Program is desirable in at least one of the following disciplines: Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection. The successful candidate will be a team player, able to demonstrate progressive experience in a supervisory capacity, and will have excellent communication skills.
