Sports & Fundamental Movement Instructors
North Vancouver Recreation & Culture is proud of the quality programs we offer and the fun atmosphere staff enjoy while working with children, youth, adults and seniors of all abilities!
We are currently seeking energetic and highly-motivated individuals to join our dynamic sports instructor team who are available to instruct one or more of our many programs starting this Fall. We are in immediate need of contract hourly instructors who can teach one or more of the following programs: soccer, basketball, badminton, pickleball, gymnastics, climbing, squash, parkour, table tennis, volleyball, ultimate, floor hockey and multisport programs.
As a contract Sports Instructor you will be responsible for lesson planning, and delivering quality instruction to early years and school age children, youth, adults and/or seniors. NVRC sport instructors promote the principles of physical literacy and include the development of fundamental movement skills in each class.
Applicants must be a minimum 16 years of age. NVRC Sport Instructors have a range of experiences and qualifications. Minimum requirements include: 8 hours of First Aid Training, such as Emergency First Aid, and experience participating in sport programs. Successful applicants must be certified in High Five Sport or Principles of Healthy Child Development (required within 3 months of employment) and NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills (required within six months of employment).
Preferred candidates will also have demonstrated experience coaching or leading recreation programs. Industry certifications listed below are also desirable:
Certification or training to become a Physical Literacy Instructor. Course work includes four modules: Introduction to Physical Literacy, High Five certification (required within three months of employment), NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills certification (required within six months of employment) and quality Physical Literacy experiences.
National Coaches Certification (NCCP) certified or trained in multi-sport or sport specific training. Instructor steam certifications are preferred.
Shifts vary from one to three hours primarily afterschool and weekends depending on the program.
All employees should be prepared to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
HOURLY RATE: Based on training and experience, plus 4% in lieu of benefits.
