Aquatic Leader III

(Permanent, Full-Time)

The District of West Vancouver Community Services Department has an opening for a permanent full-time Aquatic Leader III to provide supervision and leadership for guards, game leaders, instructors and users of the Aquatic Centre. You will play a key role in the leadership of the Aquatic Leader team and be expected to provide mentoring and leadership to other staff on the Aquatic team.

Tasks currently include: participating in program development, special events, lesson supervision, lifeguard training, birthday party/slide attendant/facility host coordination and staff supervision. Added responsibilities involve, planning in-service and staff training, handling customer service inquiries and assuming responsibility for facility operations accordingly.

The preferred candidate will possess: completion of a 2 year Diploma or degree in Recreation or a related field supplemented by courses in lifesaving, swimming instruction and pool operation and maintenance. Desirable training and experience includes: a minimum of 3 years experience as an Aquatic Leader; BCRPA Aquatic Fitness Module; and Instructor Trainer Certification (NLS, CPR, AED, Water Safety Instructor).

Required Licenses and Certificates include: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor; National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool Option; NLS Waterpark; CPR Level C & AED; and Aquatic Emergency Care or Standard First Aid and a current Lifesaving Instructor Award (LSI). The successful candidate must also obtain the following certifications within the first 3 months of employment: BCRPA Aquatic Fitness Module; and Instructor Trainer Certification; Pool Operators I and Occupational First Aid Level 2.

Hours of Work:
37.5 hours per week (hours and days of work will vary based upon operational requirements)

Rate of Pay:
$27.99 - $32.95 per hour
