Engineering Technician IV - Underground Services

Regular Full Time Position

The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced engineering technologist to join our Engineering Department. The Underground Services Division provides engineering services for the management of Saanich’s sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage systems including infrastructure planning and capacity analysis, capital replacement design and construction and operational technical support.  The successful candidate will work in a technical team to deliver water resource-based capital assignments.  The work of the Engineering Technician IV involves field and office assignments including project management; liaison with the public or consultants; review of conceptual, preliminary and final engineering design drawings for conformance to Saanich specifications and operational requirements; prepare design revisions for Engineer’s consideration; project budget accountability; and undertake construction inspection/reporting and contract administration.  Experience working on water resources retrofit projects would be an asset.
Requirements include a two year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution; a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience; eligibility for membership in ASTTBC; a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License; a personal vehicle available for use as and when required, and conversant with computer based engineering applications including AutoCAD.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
This is a C.U.P.E.
