Reporting to the Recreation Office Supervisor, you will be responsible for moderately complex clerical work involving organizing and monitoring the efficient operation of office support services in a fast paced multicultural and multigenerational recreation centre. The Recreation Clerk 2 is responsible for supervising and participating in the work of one or more subordinates; verifying and recording cash receipts; answering a variety of enquiries related to facility programs, rules and regulations; and preparing and maintaining a variety of records and files. Other duties include providing information and assistance regarding facility allotments, allotment fees and terms of rental contracts; completing and issuing contracts, invoices, and receipts using CLASS computerized system, verifying insurance certificates and ensuring setup and cleanup arrangements are made. Supplies information, assistance and direction to the public and user organizations by telephone and over the counter; handles enquiries and complaints; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a wide variety of community groups, the public and internal contacts. The Recreation Clerk 2 exercises considerable independence of judgment and action within established guidelines, referring unusual or complex matters to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of conformance with established procedures and effectiveness of services provided. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial, and word processing courses; sound related office, cash handling experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of related departmental policies, practices, rules, and regulations. Ability to assign, supervise, review, train and participate in the work of one or more clerical and/or cashier subordinates. Deal effectively with the public, staff and officials in supplying information and assistance related to facility operations. Additionally, the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate typing rapidly and accurately and have ability to operate common office equipment and related office application software (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, POS and CLASS software etc.)
Hours of work: Friday - Saturday: 8:45 am - 4:45 pm || Sunday: 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm
